Conditioning

Conditioning is not a sport in its own right, unless you count crossfit. Conditioning is a valuable way of training that incoperates fitness and strength.

Conditioning can be done in many different ways, the easiest being complexes (performing multiple exersises one after another) but there are many different special types of equipment that can also be used these could include things such as

  • Sled
  • Ropes
  • Kettlebells
  • Tyres
  • Kegs
  • Sledge Hammers
  • Sandbags
  • Many other pieces of equipment exist most of which stem from strongman (please see equipment link for more information). Strongman medleys are a great way to condition yourself for example doing farmers walk then going straight into a sled drag

Conditioning can sometimes be called GPP (General Physical Preparedness) one thing that must be taken from this though is that, GPP refers to working on aspects of fitness that whatever your main style of training is neglects. For example If you are a powerlifter then you will more than likely not do much cardiovascular training therefore doing so will improve your GPP. This is because training for the lifts in powerlifting does not develop much cardiovascular fitness.
