Wild Thorn…Are a rock band from the north east of England based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Formed by Ash Robertson the band began playing on the north east music scene in 2014 and have since played extensively around the UK playing venues such as the Wild Side Club at the Old Salutation in Nottingham, Degeneration Fest in Lincolnshire, Nambucca London, The Ruby Lounge Manchester, Bannermans in Edinburgh, Snooty Fox in Wakefield, Trillians Rock Bar in Newcastle, and the 02 Academy in Newcastle supporting a number of touring rock bands from across UK and Europe. In 2019 the lead singer Ash Robertson brought American rock band Vigil Of War over to the UK from Los Angeles after seeing them play live at the Whisky A Go Go. Ash was able to book them a tour which also included a slot at Rockmantic festival in Carlisle. Wild Thorn was able to support them on a number of their dates across the UK and plan to play their own tour of the USA very soon.
In 2019 the band headlined their very own show at the 02 Academy Newcastle to celebrate the release of their new CD Rockin N Rollin. Their new single Rockin N Rollin debuted on American radio station Philly Rock Radio, Vegas Radio and Rock Radio UK on Friday 31st May and has been regularly played on Hard Rock Hell Radio. The band have been recently announced to play at the Hard Rock Hell Festival at Great Yarmouth for March 2021.
Inspired by bands like Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Foo Fighters, Van Halen, Queen and Motorhead the band have supported artists such as Reckless Love from Finland, Thunder Mother from Sweden, Knock Out Kaine from Lincolnshire, Deathstars from Sweden and ex Iron Maiden / Wolfsbane singer Blaze Bayley.
“I am heavily influenced by singers such as David Lee Roth, Michael Monroe, Paul Stanley and Axl Rose” says lead singer Ash Robertson. “Not just vocally but in the stage craft, “I love to get off the stage and interact with the crowd”. “We are all very energetic performers and we get on so well so it’s great to be on stage in front of people doing what we love!” The band features Ash’s brother Elliott Robertson on drums, Lewis Caudle on guitar and Owen Storey on bass.
